I’ve heard this tip before, but never used it myself until this week: use text-to-speech software to read your work to you. Any typos jump out at you. This has worked so well that I have developed a crush on the text-to-speech voice lady.

  1. I sometimes do this on my kindle and have it read back to me. You're right, you do find mistakes. But you also find odd phrasings that can be smoothed out.
